After a long cold winter, we are glad to say that spring is here at last. Although many people are excited to throw open their windows and let a little fresh air into their homes, this can also make your home much more susceptible to a variety of pests. At Armor Pest Control, we know that it is a whole lot easier and cheaper to prevent pests from entering than it is to try to get rid of them once they’ve made a home for themselves. That is why our rat, flea, mice exterminator in Maryland has come up with the following list of tips for keeping the pests out:
- Keep your food sealed – Food is one of the main reasons that pests enter your home, so it is important to keep food sealed and off of the floor. If you have pets, it is advisable to store their food in large plastic containers to keep it properly sealed.
- Trim the bushes and trees – If there are any bushes and trees sitting close to your home, keep them trimmed up to keep them away from your home. Plants that lean against your home act as a bridge for pests!
- Store wood away from your home – If you have wood stored for a project or your fire pit, keep it stored away from your home by at least twenty feet. Carpenter ants and termites tend to be attracted to wood.
- Seal up any cracks – Pets can’t enter your home if you don’t give them a way to, so ensure that any cracks, gaps or other entryways into your home are properly sealed.
